The Universal Sound

The Word Creates

“In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
All things came to be through him,
and without him nothing came to be.
What came to be through him was life,
the light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overcome it.”
-John 1:1-5

The root of creation is in the Great Breath, the Logos, the Word. Before the beginning, there was not matter or energy as we conceive it, no shapes, and no movement.

The word is life in motion. The word “verb” is from the Latin verbus which means motion. The word, whether spoken, written, or thought, is creative. The word creates.

Creation is governed by the Law of Three, the Holy Triamazikamno. Creation is only possible through the alchemy of the active, passive, and reconciling forces; all creation is sexual, magnetic. The word creates, and therefore is sexual, magnetic.

God Geometrizes

“…sublime lords sang with the rhythms of fire in the seven temples established in the chaos.”
-Samael Aun Weor

“The marvels of God are not brought forth from one’s self. Rather, it is more like a chord, a sound that is played. The tone does not come out of the chord itself, but rather, through the touch of the Musician. I am, of course, the lyre and harp of God’s kindness.”
Hildegard von Bingen

The wisdom and power of God is contained in the intelligence and beauty of the law of the octave.

Sound from the higher planes descends into color; color into scent; scent into flavor; flavor into taste.

The Vedas teach that the Akash (sound) crystallizes into Agni (color), Vayu (scent), Apas (taste), and Prithvi (sensation).

Pythagoras taught that the planets and stars move according to mathematical equations, which correspond to musical notes and thus produce a magnificent symphony-the harmony of the spheres.

In some sects of Yoga this is known as shabda, the audible life stream. Sound is known in these ancient teachings as the energy that sustains the universe.

Sonic Psychology

“The sound of the cannon, its explosion, destroys the glass of a window. On the other hand, a soft word calms anger. However, a rude and inharmonious word produces anger, or melancholy, sadness, hatred. It is stated that silence is golden; however it is better to state that: It is wrong to speak when one should be silent, as well as to be silent when one should speak.”
-Samael Aun Weor, Logos Mantra Theurgy

The cosmic law of vibratory affinity states that the circumstances of our life occur because of our vibrational level. Just as a piano playing a note in a room with another piano will cause the unplayed piano to vibrate with that same note.

If we manifest at a certain level due to heavy lifestyle choices and strong identification with negative emotions, we will always attract people and circumstances of that same level.

Every atom, all physical matter has a vibratory level, and so does psychic material, the thoughts and feelings. Therefore, we can change our vibratory level psychologically, and change our circumstances.

Harmony and balance of our internal vibration can be achieved through sexual transumtation, meditation, and mantras.

It is interesting in this regard that the ear is not only responsible for hearing, but also for balance. When there is a dysfunction of the inner part of the ear there can be vertigo and dizziness- imbalance. Harmonize with sound to create internal balance.

The Value of the Word

Words have an external value and an internal value. Common and vulgar words do not necessarily resonate internally, or they have a negative vibration psychologically. A life can be changed with one word, for better or worse.

On the other hand, sacred words, liturgical phrases, sacred poetry, mantras, prayers etc. have profound psychological and esoteric benefits.

Samael Aun Weor says in Secret Notes of a Guru there was a time in the past when giving one’s word had enough merit to bind a contract. But now because of the degeneration of our word we need legal written documents in order to have a contract.

The Power of the Word

There is a story of a man who  said to the Dalai Lama that there is no difference between chanting OM MANI PADME HUM and Coca Cola. But when the Dalai insulted the man, and the man got very angry. The Dalai Lama then explained that he had just learned the power of a word.

The universe was created with the word, and there is a relationship with sexuality and the word.

For example when a boy enters puberty one of the noticeable changes is in the voice. Samael Aun Weor stated that he could tell the state of someone’s transmutation by listening to their voice, their word.

Master Jesus Christ was able to say “Stand up!” and cause the dead to rise.

“When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw them in a tumult, weeping and wailing. He went in and said to them, ‘Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.’ And they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. He took her by the hand and said to her, ‘Talitha koumi’ (Little girl, rise up). Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around.”
-Mark 5:39-41

Music

”When I open my eyes I must sigh, for what I look upon is contrary to my religion, and I must despise the world which never divines that music is a greater revelation than the whole of wisdom and philosophy.”
-Ludwig van Beethoven

“Music is a more potent instrument than any other for education, because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the soul.”
-Plato

Music is the language of expression, communion, worship, creativity, and perfection, in all cultures throughout time.

Music can transform our inner psychological state, for better or worse. What music we were listening to, drawn to, at different times in our lives can tell us something about our level of being at that time.

Music that is objective, that is the expression of a master, or of communities close to nature, or created for the purpose of worship of the Divine, can open our heart and educate our soul.

Music can also be used to hypnotize, manipulate, seduce, and to invoke negative states such as anger, lust, laziness, and selfish pride.

Sound and the Law of the Octave

“The keynote, the seven vowels of nature resound in all creation! Each flower, each mountain, each river, has its own particular note, its note synthesis, each world has its keynote. The combination of all the keynotes of the infinite forms the ineffable orchestration of the starry spaces; this is the music of the spheres which Pythagoras spoke about.
-Samael Aun Weor, Logos Mantram Theurgy

The Law of the Octave is illustrated in the Book of Joshua, when the Israelites conquered the formidable city of Jericho in order to reclaim the promised land. In Joshua 6:2-5 God instructs the Israelites to march around the city for seven days, with seven priests blowing shofars (Rams’s horn trumpet). On the seventh day the walls crumbled.

In ancient Hebrew the vowels were never written down, only the consonants had characters, because it was believed that the vowels were the sacred breath and could never be written down.

The sacred vowels of nature are I E O U A M S, which correspond to the seven chakras of the human organism. These vowels can be used as a mantra to harmonize and chakras.

The word mantra means, among other things, “that which protects the mind”. A mantras is a sacred word or sound that can quiet the mind, protect from negative entities, assist in astral travel, invoke angels etc.

Sound creates and organizes the universe, therefore the intelligent use of the word can organize and create our internal universe.

Language

After the Biblical flood, humanity banded together and began a project to build a tower called Babel that would reach Heaven. God instead caused them all the speak different languages and scatter over the Earth into different tribes.

This was the beginning of mankind’s separation from the Divine universal language which gave power over the four elements, externally and internally. Now humanity was in confusion.

Ancient and prehistoric civilizations had languages with hundreds of consonants and over 50 vowels. They could articulate two conversations simultaneously. Some languages today such as Sanskrit, Hebrew, and ancient Chinese are considered remnants of the objective universal language.

“The sacred mysteries of the Logos were known among the Aztecs, Egyptians, Hindus, Persians, Romans, and Greeks, etc. [ ] Certainly, the Internal Master is the note synthesis of all the notes — He is the God that we carry within! He is the Word.”
-Samael Aun Weor, Logos Mantra Theurgy

“Every word crystallizes by means of the Tattvas; thus, this is how the present humanity has created its present life (disastrous and terrible): by means of the power of the word. This is why it was impossible for the rooster to be absent from the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. The rooster symbolizes the word. When Hadit, our igneous serpent, arrives at the larynx and we receive the degree of the ‘rooster’, then we utter the golden language, and we create as the Gods, with the power of the word.
-Samael Aun Weor, Secret Notes of a Guru
