The three primary forces are positive, negative and neutral and all three of these forces are required to create anything. The positive force acts, the negative force receives and the neutral force is the mysterious force that reconciles the two because it is the mix of positive and negative.
Creation by way of the three forces is a cosmic law known as the Holy Triamazikamno, the Law of Three, the Law of Creation.
In the Kabbalistic Tree of Life the uncreated light of the Ain Soph Aur pours down into the first aspect of creation, the supernal triad, which causes a prismatic split of the uncreated light, and creates, unfolds the rest of the Tree, organized by the Law of Seven.
In the Vedic tradition the three primary forces are the three gunas. Creation is described as the agitation of the previously inert and perfectly balanced state into the three gunas of light, motion, and darkness.
In astrology these forces manifest as three modes cardinal (initiating), fixed (sustaining) and mutable (transforming). These three modes subdivide the four elements into triplicities: a cardinal, fixed and mutable of each of the respective fire, air, earth and water signs, thereby creating the twelve signs of the entire zodiac.
